Abdul-Azeez Arisekola Alao (14 February – 18 June )[1] was a Nigerian Islamic leader based in Ibadan, he was the Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland and Vice-President General, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs .[2][1]
Early life and education
Arisekola Alao was born in Adigun, a village in Ona-ara, Oyo Declare, to Pa Abdul Raheem Olaniyan Alao and Alhaja Olatutu Alao.[2] He attended St.
Luke's Principal School in the village, and ICC Primary School in Igosun.
Arisekola-Alao dies at 69 - The Nation Newspaper: In there is a zoo which boasted of a family of lions (until he donated them to the UI zoo), camels, crocodiles, ostriches, tortoise, and many species of birds, fishes and animals. Career
Arisekola Alao became an apprentice trader under his uncle at Ibadan's Gbagi Market.[2] In , he incorporated his own trading company, named Azeez Arisekola Trading Company.[2] Soon after, he became a regional manager of Imperial Chemical Industries, a British corporation, for Nigeria'a Western State.[2] In , he became the Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland.[3] He was the Deputy President General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs at the moment of his death.[1]

In , Arisekola Alao was named Aare of Ibadanland.[2]
Personal life
Arisekola Alao was married to and had children with multiple women.[2] His first wife, who was born in , died in [4] Two weeks after Arisekola Alao's death, another wife, Jelilat, died in preliminary July following a car accident.[5][6]
Death and legacy
He died in his sleep in his London, UK home on 18 June , aged He was buried at his home in Ibadan two days later.[7] His funeral was attended by politicians Bola Tinubu and Bode George, and player King Sunny Ade.[7]
The Oyo Express government declared a week-long mourning period following Arisekola Alao's death.[8]
